Mosquitoes are common, flying insects that live in most parts of the world. Over 3,000 types of mosquitoes can be found worldwide.
House Mosquito (Culex)
About a dozen species of the culex can be found in the United States. The house mosquito bites humans and animals (mostly at night) and can carry deadly diseases
Because they are in the same family as the fly, mosquitoes have two wings. They also have hair-like scales that cover their bodies and a long trunk that is connected to the mouth. Mosquitoes can vary in color depending on the species.
The most common way they get into your house is by sneaking in while you are exiting or entering. They thrive on warm, dark places with pleantu of moisture.
The best ways are to remove any standing water, such as gutters, corrugated down spout extensions, open trash cans or buckets, and anything that will hold water after a rain.
Since Mosquitos like to lay eggs in or near water, doing the following weekly will help prevent them. Empty and scrub, turn over, cover, or throw out items that hold water, such as tires, buckets, planters, toys, pools, birdbaths, flowerpots, or trash containers.
